Vienna, the capital of Austria, topped the list of the world’s most livable cities for 2019 released by The Economist Intelligence Unit. This is the second consecutive time that the city has topped the charts. Melbourne in Australia, Sydney in Australia, Osaka in Japan, and Calgary in Canada make up the top five of the list.

Three cities from Australia and Canada and two from Japan came in the top 10. However, Europe as a whole performed well – eight of the top twenty cities were from Europe. Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland and Frankfurt in Germany occupied the 11, 14, and 12th place respectively. Also, Helsinki in Finland, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and Hamburg in Germany made it to the top 20.

The highest-ranked city in the United States was Honolulu, which came in at 22.

In the Asian cities, Hongkong came in at 38. However, this list was compiled much before the current political turmoil that has engulfed the nation. Singapore was ranked 40 while Dubai was ranked 70.
