Going by the above quote, no matter how challenges multiply in your life and create chaos in your mind, you can make chaos the precursor to better things. The world needs to change, but it can happen through our collective efforts. According to Admiral William H. McRaven, the wisdom that we garner from our experiences helps us to elevate a few lives, and subsequently, those who have benefited touch a few more lives and the chain continues. Admiral McRaven served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command.
In this video of the Commencement Address to the class of 2014 at University of Texas, Admiral McRaven gives anecdotes from his stint in the US Navy to help the students understand the value of unity irrespective of ethnic origin, religious background, social class, or status. All the barriers fade when it comes to making the world a better place for the generations to come. He believes that tiding over the failures is the thumb rule of success.
One interesting lesson he gives to motivate the students is that one must strive to make his bed to perfection. However simple and mundane, accomplishing this task gives you a sense of pride and responsibility that becomes a trigger for performing bigger tasks with undivided determination.
