Huawei, a famous Chinese telecom, announced the unveiling of its own operating system in Dongguan, China.

HarmonyOS or HongMeng (Chinese) is a distributed operating system that allows application developers to create their applications and easily deploy them across devices.

The telecom giant created its own OS after finding itself on the “entity list” from U.S. companies, which could mean losing access to Google’s Android platform in view of the escalations of U.S.-China trade tensions.

HarmonyOS holds no resemblance to Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. Huawei plans to deploy this OS to smart televisions, smartphones and tablets but it will start with a product called the Honor Smart Screen. In the coming three years, Huawei will deploy the OS on other smart devices and wearable devices.

About HarmonyOS

The first version of HarmonyOS will be launched in late 2019. It is a future-oriented, smart and secure operating system. Further, its microkernel architecture makes it fast and secure to cyber attacks. The presence of Deterministic Latency Engine will improve the overall performance of the operating system.

In a world dominated by Android and iOS, this new operating system is extremely interesting! What do you think?
