Google’s new feature allows you to send an emergency message to 911 operators without speaking. With just a tap, you can share your location with the authorities. This text-to-speech feature will prove to be beneficial for the visually impaired and even the ones who are stuck in a dangerous situation and not able to speak. The feature will be available on Pixel phones and select Android devices later this year.

There are three emergency buttons – ‘Medical,’ ‘Fire’ or ‘Police’. By tapping on any of these buttons, users will be able to send their location and the type of assistance they need. The feature doesn’t require users to speak; however, the option to speak with the operator will still be present. The feature will work even if there is no data plan on the phone.

The message sent by the user will send a plus code too along with the location. The plus code will send a shortcut location to make it easy for the 911 operators to locate the user. The update will available for users later this year.

Isn’t this a great feature?
