An electric car (also referred to as electric vehicle or EV) is essentially powered by electricity that uses energy stored form its rechargeable batteries. E-cars are said to be the future of transport as they don’t consume petrol or diesel and have a friendlier impact on the environment. It also keeps the air we breathe cleaner. EVs are pretty affordable and are less tragic and smoother than any petrol or diesel cars. Further, they have a low-maintenance requirement that gives them an edge over other gas-run cars. Plus, you can skip going to the gas station and ‘fill-up’ at home or at work. Here is a list of five EVs that are kickstarting their journey in 2019.

Audi E-Tron SUV Sportback

The e-tron Sportback is a concept car set to launch in 2019 for an estimated £50,000. It’s about the same size as an Audi A7 with a 23-inch wheel.

The Audi E tron Sportback made was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show in 2017. It comes with three electric motors and can accelerate from 0-62 in about four and a half seconds.

Elon Musk’s vision of anelectric car, the Model 3, is the most affordable Tesla. The starting price of this car is $35,000 in the US. It can go 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, and if you pay extra, another version of the same car can make 60 in 5.1 seconds. The Model 3 comes with five seats and it also features Tesla’s Autopilot system with a landscape-orientated 15-inch centre display screen.

Model 3 offers many premium options similar to the ones that you find in the Mercedes C class and the BMW luxuries.

Last year, Honda announced its plans to join the electric vehicle segment, with its Urban EV, which will go on sale in 2019. It has a place for four inside and is shorter than a Jazz. It will have an ultra-widescreen display inside.

Honda has not yet confirmed the prices. It also revealed a concept last year called a Honda power manager that is a kind of fully connected and integrated charger that can potentially integrate into your smart home and allow vehicle-to-grid power flow.
