Teen star goes home with a grand slam title

In the US Open final on Sunday, Spanish teen star Carlos Alcaraz defeated Norway's Casper Ruud 6-4 2-6 7-6(1) 6-3 to win his first Grand Slam.

In their first Grand Slam, both players started unstable Despite that, Ruud was able to hold in the opening game and preserve two break points.

To highlight how perfectly balanced the match was, both players had won 67 points by the middle of the third set.

In the fourth set, with a 3-2 lead, Alcaraz launched a furious attack on Ruud's serve to break again and began his march towards winning.

After establishing a 4-2 advantage and breaking serve once again, Alcaraz ruthlessly ended the match.

After his historic victory, the 19-year-old fell on the floor on his back as he took in all the praise and cheers from the New York audience.

Alcaraz's victory made him the youngest Grand Slam winner and the youngest US Open champion since Pete Sampras in 1990.

Alcaraz has won six ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2022 US Open and two Masters 1000 titles.
