This year’s Thanksgiving, which falls on 26th November, is going to be different from most other year’s. With the COVID-19 cases surging across the world, it will be a wise choice to be confined to the safety of our homes this year and enjoy a virtual Thanksgiving.
Also, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has called on Americans to avoid travelling during this time amidst the rising number of cases.
But, these are times that one would certainly want to spend with near and dear ones. And to make things easier, video-calling apps are dishing out some fantastic Thanksgiving gifts to users.
Zoom, the now famous communication technology company, earlier announced that it would relax its 40-minute meeting time limit for Thanksgiving “so your family gatherings don’t get cut short.”
It put up a post on Twitter to announce that the time limit would be lifted for all meetings globally from midnight ET on 26th November through 6 a.m. ET on 27th November.

Generally, Zoom offers free service to users for a maximum of 40 minutes, unless you pay a minimum subscription fee of $15 per month.
Following this announcement, Microsoft Teams has gone a step further by offering free all-day video calling. Also, one can share a meeting invite even with people who do not have a Microsoft account or Teams installed.
“To help you stay connected in the coming months, you will be able to meet for 24 hours with up to 300 participants until further specified,” it wrote in a blog post.
With so much technology at one’s disposal, it would definitely be wise to spend Thanksgiving a little differently this year – virtually but thankful for being safe and healthy! Would you agree?
