The famous Australian media business, Australian Geographic, in collaboration with the South Australian Museum holds an annual competition called the ‘Nature Photographer of the Year’ to encourage the photography of the region of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, and New Guinea. This competition aims to promote the legacy of this region, which is known for its unique natural heritage.
There are multiple categories in the competition such as animal portrait, animal behaviour, animal habitat, botanical, and landscape.

The overall winner: Fin whale’s demise (Fin whale) by Mat Beeson shot in Cheynes Beach, Albany, Western Australia.
Life in the esky (Eastern grey kangaroo) by Charles Davis shot in Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales.
