The Danish toy production company Lego does not need any introduction. Its LEGO-brand toys that generally consist of interlocked building blocks are a great source of entertainment and engagement for children and adults all over the world.

In these times of crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lego has stepped up to help healthcare workers by taking some wonderful initiatives.

It recently announced that it has modified some of its molding machines to produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in its home country, Denmark. It now produces more than 13,000 protective visors every day for healthcare professionals.

In a post on Instagram, Lego put up a message that said, “This week we began to make visors at our factory in Billund for healthcare workers on the frontline in Denmark. We are so incredibly proud of the team who made this happen. They worked around the clock to create designs and make moulds that can produce more than 13,000 visors a day. We are grateful to have such talented, dedicated and caring colleagues.”

The design of the visor is an interesting one, where there is an extra layer of protection between the eyes of the healthcare workers and the patients affected with COVID-19.

Lego has been actively donating in its own way towards relief efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, it announced a donation of $50 million to mitigate the spread of the virus, which included a donation to the charity ‘Education Cannot Wait’, which “provides education for children in crises.”

Further, it donated 500,000 LEGO sets to children in need in these tough times.
