Google paid tribute to the legendary blues musician B. B King by commemorating his 94th birthday today with a doodle. He is often considered one of the greatest electric-blues artists of all time and was given the moniker ‘King of Blues.’

Born on 16th September in 1925 in Mississippi, Riley B. King was attracted to music from a very young age. Over his musical career, he recorded close to 100 albums, won 15 Grammy Awards, and sold more than a whopping 40 million records worldwide. In his illustrious career that spanned decades, he won various awards and was inducted in the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980. Subsequently, he was also inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006. A prolific performer, King was also known to average more than 300 shows a year at various points across his career!

The doodle, directed by Oakland-based, Memphis-born Angelica McKinley; illustrated by Little Rock-based guest artist Steve Spencer; and animated by Brooklyn-based guest animator Nayeli Lavanderos, shows King’s life and rise to fame. While his iconic song ‘The thrill is gone away’ plays in the background, the doodle shows B. B King performing in streets, hitchhiking to Memphis, and securing a job at the radio station WDIA.

It also shows his very famous guitar ‘Lucille’ and him performing across several cities in the world such as London and Paris.

Did you have a look at the doodle? What do you think about it? Do let us know your views in the comments section below.
