Google has turned an adult! It turned 21 today and celebrated its birthday in style. How? With a doodle, obviously!

The doodle shows what a regular desktop computer looked like about two decades ago when the founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page published a landmark paper called ‘The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine.’ In the paper, the duo has sketched a plan for a “large-scale search engine” that had a database of “at least 24 million pages.”

Through all these years, Google has grown to unprecedented levels and it is one of the biggest companies in the world. It was started by Ph. D students Brin and Page from their dormitory at California’s Stanford University. While initially it was rivalled, and even surpassed by other search engines such as Yahoo!, today, Google is the most-used search engine across the world with a whopping 63,000 searches conducted each second! It operates in about 100 languages of the world and it wouldn’t be incorrect to say that it is a global superpower.

Today, it also has a parent company ‘Alphabet,’ which has diversified into several avenues such as health, self-driving cars, smart home products, and funding for startups.

Web search today is synonymous with Google and it is the most visited website in the world.

We wish Google a very happy birthday and wish that it reaches newer heights and continues to make the lives of people across the world easier and more enjoyable.
