Amid the massive shortage of hand sanitizers due to coronavirus, French luxury perfume brands Dior and Givenchy have pledged to produce free hand sanitizers for French health authorities.

Unfortunately, the crisis in France is worsening with nearly 4,500 cases and more than 100 deaths due to the novel coronavirus reported.

Luxury goods conglomerate LVHM, headquartered in Paris and the parent company of brands such as Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy, will use its perfume production lines at three factories to produce massive quantities of hydroalcoholic gel, or hand sanitizer.

“LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels from Monday,” LVMH announced in a statement on 15th March, Sunday.

The gel will be delivered to French health authorities and the Assistance Publique-Hospitaux de Paris, a network of 39 teaching hospitals that treats more than 8 million patients each year.

“Through this initiative, LVMH intends to help address the risk of a lack of product in France and enable a greater number of people to continue to take the right action to protect themselves from the spread of the virus.”

The press release also said that it would produce the hand sanitizers for as long as needed.

People across the globe lauded this move by the organization, and rightly so.

We believe other such organizations across the world must follow suit and do everything possible to ensure that this global pandemic passes off quickly.
