In the midst of the panic and anxiety created by the coronavirus, famed British author J. K Rowling has come to the rescue of bored children, and the parents and carers of children that are at home because of the lockdown.

J. K Rowling, in collaboration with Bloomsbury and Scholastic, has created a new website called ‘Harry Potter at Home‘ “to help children, parents, carers and teachers add a touch of Harry Potter magic to our new daily lives.”

Providing free access to a wide range of resources related to the international franchise, the website is designed to keep children entertained and engaged during this pandemic.

The resources include a free audio book of the first book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in six languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Japanese on Audible, the famous audio book service. Further, Rowling has partnered with OverDrive online library system to allow members to gain free access to an e-book of the first book of Harry Potter in more than 20 languages by the end of April.

Also, a variety of quizzes, puzzles, videos, and articles to engage children will be available on the website.

Author J. K Rowling put up a post on Twitter, sharing the news with her fans. She wrote a wonderful message that said, “Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch harrypotterathome.com”

Interestingly, J. K Rowling had earlier announced a special, open license for teachers, allowing them to post videos of them reading out aloud any of the seven books of the Harry Potter series to their students.

Did you check out the website yet? We have and it certainly looks extremely engaging and entertaining. Do let us know your views on the website in the comments section below.

Happy Harry Pottering!
