22nd March is observed as World Water Day by the United Nations. This day seeks to underscore the importance of water to sustain life on Earth, and raise awareness about water crisis and the lack of access to water for many across the world, and promote its conservation.
It would not be incorrect to say that water is one resource that is a crucial resource for life to even exist.
Theme of 2021 World Water Day
The theme of World Water Day for 2021 is ‘Valuing Water.’ The celebrations of this day will be conducted virtually all across the globe.
Often, the worth and value of water is undermined. However, water is precious – it has an immense value to the smooth running of households. This includes the use of water for cooking food, sanitation needs, and consumption. Apart from this, water is imperative for the local environment, the well being of the community, overall health, and for cultural practices.
In short, water has an economic, social, cultural, and environmental impact on the society.

However, despite its massive important, the world today faces an unprecedented water crisis. According to various studies, by 2025, half the world’s population will live in areas where water will be a scarce resource.
