Driverless cars are the future of technology as Waymo, the subsidiary of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., is planning to launch them early in December. Waymo will compete with Uber and Lyft while operating under a new brand. In an e-mailed statement, the company confirmed that it has been working on self-driving technology for nearly a decade with safety as a primary factor. However, Waymo is tight-lipped about the new name of the brand.
According to a source privy to the program, the service will not feature in app stores anytime soon and things will start small. It will first be available to a small number of users in the Phoenix area and will expand gradually.
