Egyptian authorities discovered an unopened and unspoiled coffin whose origin goes eons back. The content of the Sarcophagus, the ancient coffin, is a mummy of a woman which was excavated by a French-led mission in the northern area of El-Asasef, located on the western bank of the Nile. This is the second of its kind that has been discovered in the said area, the first one being discovered earlier this month.
Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al Anani disclosed that the first sarcophagus dates back to 17th dynasty whilst the other is from the 18th dynasty. These excavated ruins, it is believed, will rekindle the interest of tourists back in the country, which was reeling under the effects of a revolution followed by political instability.
