The 16-Year-Old We Talked about has been Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Last week we talked about environmental activist Greta Thunberg. This is the 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl who has been skipping school every Friday to protest against the inability of governments and world organisations to act against climate change. She has, recently, said that we now need to hit the panic button if we want to survive.

She has now been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. If she wins, she will be the youngest ever to receive the prestigious honour.

However, we at Newsum strongly believe that it’s not just her, governments, or world organisations that need to hit the panic button. We, as individuals, also need to do so.

We need to immediately and urgently commit towards doing our bit, or I should say, our best to fight climate pollution.

We can start by becoming minimalists, saving every bit of natural resources around us. Even if we are privileged, we should bear in mind that every waste generated by us is going to come back to haunt us in one form or the other.

Our recklessness towards Mother Earth, which has provided us everything including our own life, has brought us to a stage where our own existence as human beings is at risk.

Forget bees and polar bears, if we don’t act now, we humans will perish. Ultimately when we are gone, Mother Earth will recuperate and she will bear new children. But, by then it will be too late and we will long be gone.

Hit the panic button, act now, sensitise your friends and family about this pressing issue. Help us create maximum impact. Do share this article and the story of Greta Thunberg as much as possible.
