The aviation industry’s future is the pod plane, which exploits the conceptual simplicity of shipping containers, scientists say. The Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute and AKKA Technologies have developed prototypes that split the planes into a flying module and detachable capsule, which can be transported separately.
