The networking site for people in professional jobs, LinkedIn has come up with a unique initiative to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting 1st April until June end, LinkedIn will provide free job posting for ‘essential’ businesses across the world, which include healthcare, supermarket, warehousing, freight delivery and disaster relief nonprofits. This initiative is to ensure that hiring in such sectors is accelerated, helping to fill in critical roles and thus, aid the efforts to combat the virus.

Additionally, LinkedIn will also promote these job listings on its portal, increasing their visibility. The candidates that possess skills similar to those required by these jobs will see these special listings highlighted. Also, those candidates that have signed up for job alerts will receive real-time alerts if their skills match with those required by these jobs.

Finally, as part of its ‘Recruiting for Good’ program, LinkedIn will allocate its own team of recruiters to screen candidates for organizations that are at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus to ensure that these urgent and critical positions are filled with people with the right skill set as soon as possible.

Quite a few organizations in the United States that include American Red Cross of Los Angeles, Doctors of New York, and New York Presbyterian Hospital have already signed up for this service.

“Everyday we are hearing heroic stories of how those on the frontlines are working around the clock to protect the public. It’s clear, however, that more help is needed to fill the most urgent open roles.

“That is why we are bolstering our efforts to help accelerate the hiring of people with relevant skills that are most needed in India right now,” Ruchee Anand, Director of Talent and Learning Solutions, India at LinkedIn said.

What is LinkedIn?

Launched in 2003 and currently headquartered in California, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional online network. It has over 660 million users in over 200 nations across the world. Currently headed by CEO Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn was acquired by Microsoft in December 2016.
