According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the chief of the e-commerce behemoth, Jeff Bezos is now worth $202 billion. This makes him the first person ever to cross the $200 billion milestone, along with helping him retain the title of the richest person in the world.

Remarkably, this is about $90 billion more than Bill Gates, the second richest person on the planet.

Bezos has been the richest person on the planet since 2017. And projections show that he would become the world’s trillionaire by 2026.

This was primarily achieved due to the Amazon’s shares soaring in the recent past – the stock of the organization has soared 80 per cent since the beginning of this year, thanks to the change in consumer behaviour due to the coronavirus pandemic. Bezos, who founded Amazon in 1994, owns 57 million shares of the company.

Apart from Amazon, the 56-year-old Bezos is the owner of Blue Origin, the space travel company he founded in 2000. Also, he acquired the newspaper The Washington Post in 2013.

Bezos, however, is not the only entrepreneur who has seen his fortunes rise in the recent past. For instance, Facebook’s chief Mark Zuckerberg saw his net worth surge to $115 billion while Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, also joined the centibillionaire club with a net worth of $101 billion.
