Japanese billionaire entrepeneur Yusaku Maezawa is giving away a whopping $9 million to 1,000 of his followers on Twitter!
Why?
He is conducting a social experiment to see what impact money has on the happiness of people.
Isn’t this just awesome?
So, Maezawa made an announcement on YouTube that he is shelling out 1 billion yen to 1,000 of his Twitter followers. All the followers had to do was retweet the announcement tweet before 7th January. The winners would be picked through a lottery and each winner would be awarded roughly a million yen, which they could use as they wished. They would, subsequently, answer periodic questionnaires about how they were using the money.

More than 4 million people responded to this message.
A tech tycoon, Maezawa has an estimated worth of about $2 billion. But, that is not the end of his story. The business tycoon is also a rock musician and an art collector.
However, this is not the first time that Maezawa has dished out huge sums of money. Last year too, he gave away 100 million yen to 100 of his Twitter followers and created a Twitter record for the most retweeted tweet at that time.
