Giant monitor lizard at a grocery store freaks out shoppers in Thailand

Customers at the department store 7-Eleven store in Thailand were in for a surprise as they saw a new and rather interesting shopper.

A giant monitor lizard was seen climbing the shelves of the 7-Eleven store in Nakhon Pathom, a town just outside Bangkok!

In a video captured by Narumpa Tangsin that has now gone viral, the massive lizard can be seen exploring the supermarket and searching for food at the store. The giggles and screams of bystanders expressing fear and excitement nearby are also heard.

A woman could be heard screaming in the video: “Cute. Is he hungry? Does he want to eat?”

Another person, believed to be an employee, screamed off-camera: “The shelves are ruined! Oh my god.”

The lizard vacated the store only when a store employee called the police, who then brought in reptile handlers to catch the creature. The handlers dragged the lizard out of the store and lured it towards a nearby brush.

Thankfully it did not cause any damage or destruction, and netizens had a field time laughing at the absurdity of the incident.

One wrote “Godzilla vs 7eleven” while another wrote “Oh, don’t mind him. That’s Kevin, our new Top Shelf Stock Replenishment Associate.”

Another netizen, clearly well aware of the benefits of wearing masks in the times of the pandemic, wrote “I can’t believe they let him in without a mask”

Have a look at the video and, in the comments section below, let us know what you think of this unlikely shopper.
