German Town Residents Cheer a Chocolate River

The Fire Brigade Shoveled Away the Sticky Fudge from the Streets of Werl, Germany for Hours.

A scene out of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ recently gave a sleepy German town a night of sweet surprise. And bleary-eyed residents watched a chocolate river flow through a street of Werl, a town near Dortmund. But, of course, Johnny Depp did not turn up there in his Willy Wonka hat and a quizzical smile. Yet the people watched and cheered firefighters shoveling away the chocolate river.

The DreiMeister chocolate factory said a technical issue caused the chocolate leak. The fire brigade used hot water and blowtorches to clear the road of the sticky stuff, an exercise that took hours to finish.
