G20 summit ends in Osaka, Japan

The G20 Summit, which was hosted for the first time by Japan, was held on 28th and 29th June 2019.

The G20 is an international forum that includes 19 governments of nations across the world and the European Union. As a group, the G20 account for around 80 per cent of the world trade, 80 per cent of the world GDP, and 90 per cent of the Gross World Product.

Widely considered one of the premier forums for international economic cooperation, the G20 summit discusses a wide range of issues that have an impact on the global economy. Apart from economy and trade, the summit also discusses issues such as climate change, migration and refugees, and terrorism.

  19. The United States of America

The other invited guest nations and international organizations were

  6. AU (African Union) President – Egypt
  7. APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) President – Chile
  8. NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa’s Development) President – Senegal
  9. United Nations (UN)
  10. International Monetary Fund (IMF)
  11. World Bank
  12. World Trade Organization (WTO)
  13. International Labour Organization
  14. Financial Stability Board
  15. Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
  16. Asian Development Bank

Generally held once a year, this year’s summit was held in the Japanese city of Osaka.

  6. Women’s Empowerment
  7. Development and
  8. Health

The next G20 Summit will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 21st and 22nd November 2020.
