One of the biggest consulting companies in the world, Accenture has committed to hiring 150 mothers for positions at its Midwest division as soon as possible.

These jobs are based out of Accenture’s offices in Chicago and will be in the divisions of technology, consulting, and strategy. Apart from providing the new recruits with flexibility, these roles will also provide the women with training, mentorship, and necessary support.

Accenture has said that, by means of this initiative, it is looking to focus on mothers that are either unemployed or looking for a career change.

Accenture is collaborating with The Mom Project, a digital talent marketplace that connects professionally accomplished women with organizations, for this initiative. The Mom Project is tasked with screening applications and putting forth applications to Accenture.

“Those of us in positions to do so must take bold action to reverse this backslide,” said Allison Robinson, co-founder and CEO of the Mom Project. “I think our partnership with Accenture sets such a strong message to corporate leaders across the country, and I hope it will embolden them to do more.”

“The jobs that we’re talking about for these moms are careers. They’re highly coveted roles in technology and in consulting, they’re the type of roles that enable them to support their family,” said Lee Moore, senior managing director for Accenture Midwest, who is heading up the partnership.

Accenture has been known to work towards gender parity: In 2017, it set a goal to become a gender equal workplace by 2025.

This step comes amidst a number of women in the United States leaving the workforce during the pandemic.

Isn’t this truly a remarkable gesture by the company? What do you think? Will such initiatives help retain and bring back more women into the workforce? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
