The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is an awe inspiring and imposing structure. At 828 metres, it is the tallest building in the world!

However, this structure donned a new role recently, serving as a beacon of hope in these difficult times.

It became a charity box for donations to support and raise money for food for those in the United Arab Emirates that are suffering financially due to coronavirus pandemic.

The 1.2 million external lights on the structure were each auctioned off for 10 dirhams, which is enough to buy a mea for one person. As the donations kept pouring in, the entire structure was lit up beautifully. One could also bid for the light at the very top of the Burj!

According to The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives – the organizing body behind this endeavour, the donations collected because of the initiative can fund a whopping 1.2 million meals.

This campaign aims to sponsor 10 million meals for the low-income and distressed families in these tough times.

Isn’t this a great effort to raise money for those that are facing the brunt of this pandemic? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
