Senator Bernie Sanders, the incumbent Senator from Vermont, announced his run for the President of the United States for 2020. He joins an already crowded field of Democrats that includes Senator of Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren; Senator of New Jersey, Cory Booker; Senator of California, Kamala Harris among many others.

Sanders had previously made an unsuccessful bid for the Presidency in 2016 when he lost out to Hillary Clinton. The 77-year-old also has the unique distinction of being the longest-serving independent in congressional history.
