The 76th Venice Film Festival is underway and is being held from 28th August to 7th September.
Along with the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, it is counted in the “Big Three” film festivals across the world.
The festival has, traditionally, been held on the island of Lido in the Venice Lagoon.
Its opening event, where celebrities and artists walk the red carpet, has been known as one of the most glamorous events.

Founded in 1932, this festival is the oldest film festival in the world. It is also known to be among the most popular and most prestigious festivals in the world.
Today, it presents a motley selection of world-class films, bringing together some of the best and most successful actors, actresses, and directors together.
Awards given away at the Venice Film Festival
The Golden Lion away is presented for the best film while the Coppa Volpi is awarded to the best actor and actress. A Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement has also been awarded since 1969.
