“They’re just little pink plastic bags

Blowing on a highway alone…”

Well these plastic bags were not blowing on a highway alone. Instead they were busy adorning the male models sashaying down the ramp at the recently concluded London Fashion Week Men’s.

UK designer Craig Green made heads turn when he showcased plastic clothing for men as part of his Fall 2019 collection. In times when the world is finding ways to reduce plastic usage, Green used it to make fashion statement.

The neon and candy colored clothing line was made from plastic bin liners. And according to Green, the inspiration behind the show was “man made of glass”. The plastic bags were heavily ruched up to resemble bubble wrap. Hence, the clothes looked as if they are made out of bubble wrap.

The models wore matching tops and bottoms, and some even had attached capes. The clothes might not be eco-friendly but one sure has to admire Green for coming up with this unique collection. The clothes however don’t make the cut as regular wear (being plastic and transparent). But they could serve as perfect rainwear.

Green’s choice of fabric might be unconventional, but he sure has provided another innovative way of reusing plastic! Do let us know what you think of his collection.
