Barack Obama is not just a great statesman, he is also a prolific reader. But, what is interesting is that he encourages the culture of reading and urges readers to read more.

Recently, he shared on social media his ‘Summer Reading 2019’ list of around a dozen books followed by a wonderful message that read “It’s August, so I wanted to let you know about a few books I’ve been reading this summer, in case you’re looking for some suggestions.”

The list includes a mix of novels, nonfiction, and short stories and has writers such as Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison who passed away recently, Man Booker-winning author Hilary Mantel, and renowned authors such as Haruki Murakami, Nicholas Carr, and Ted Chiang. And on Facebook, he has also written meticulously notes about each of the books.

This is not Obama’s first reading list: this is a tradition he started off when he was still in office. So famous has his list become that it is now awaited by many across the globe.

We are picking up books from this list soon. How about you? How many of this list have you already read?
