27th March 2021 was observed as Earth Hour, with the world uniting to show its commitment to save the planet. Organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, it is one of the biggest grassroots movements to save the environment.
This initiative urges people across the world to switch off their lights for one hour from 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on the last Saturday of March to raise awareness about environmental issues.
This year’s event underscored the link between the destruction of nature and increasing outbreaks of diseases such as Covid-19.
Many important landmarks across the world, including the Sydney Opera House and the Colosseum in Rome, went dim in support of this initiative.
Here are some photos of the Earth Hour 2021.

The lights in the famed Sydney Opera House were also dimmed to show solidarity with the event.

The lights at Akorda, the official residence of Kazakhstan’s President were also switched off during Earth Hour in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The lights at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City were also put off.
