In a bid to go green, a cruise company in Norway is planning to use fuel made from dead fish to power its ships. Hurtigruten, which offers cruises to some of the world’s most remote and unspoiled areas, will use Liquified Biogas (LBG) to run its ships. Remains of dead fish that remain from food processing will be mixed with other organic waste to produce LBG, which is a renewable and eco-friendly source of energy.
The company plans to run at least 6 of its 17 ships using LBG, batteries, and biogas by 2021. Hurtigruten will be the first cruise company to use non-fossil fuel for its ships.
