It is not an unknown fact that the capital city of India, New Delhi, is under the wrath of bad quality air. With dust encircling the colonies, and hardly any rain, Delhi ranks as one of the places in the world with the worst air quality.

However, on the brighter side, the financial capital of India is doing really well. With its light showers and always happy weather, Mumbai recorded its cleanest air day on July 23rd 2019.

Following a brief spell of light showers, the Mumbai residents heaved a sigh of relief from the continuous rains that drowned the city. The sky was bright, and the sun was showing up when Mumbai’s pollution fell to its lowest level on Tuesday.

#BlueSkies for the Cleanest Air

Soon after, the hashtag #BlueSkies started trending on Twitter. Mumbaikars, as residents of Mumbai are fondly called, all over shared pictures of the clear, blue Mumbai skies, making everyone want visit ASAP.

SAFAR (System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research) is a system that records Air Quality Indexes (AQI). In its report, Mumbai recorded an AQI of 28, which makes it fall in the ‘Good’ category and one of the best in India. While these blue skies are a common sight in the UK, Europe, and the US, they are definitely a breath of fresh air for Mumbai residents.

The air quality of Mumbai has been better than that of other Indian cities such as Pune, New Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

On the same day, New Delhi recorded an index of 150 and was categorised as ‘moderate’ according to SAFAR.
