Barbie to add new dolls with wheelchair, prosthetics to its repertoire

After nearly six decades of fascinating little girls with its dolls, Barbie is set to include some new additions to its repertoire. Mattel, the toymaker behind Barbie, recently unveiled new wheelchair Barbie and Barbie with prosthetic limbs.

The iconic dolls have been wooing the little girls with their beauty since ever. Over the years, the dolls have undergone a vast change to keep up with the changing times. With time, Mattel introduced Builder Barbie, Martial Artist Barbie, Head Chef Barbie, Barbie Sheroes and other such dolls that reflected the vast career choices adopted by girls and women.

In a bid to be more inclusive and realistic, Barbie also added three new body types – curvy, tall, and petite. The dolls in a wheelchair and with prosthetic limbs are the latest entrants in this Barbie universe.

These new dolls will be launched under the brand’s Fashionistas line. The new range will also feature dolls with braided hairstyle, different body types, and complexions.

Mattel introduced the dolls in their social media posts.

Needless to say, the news of these latest entrants is creating quite a stir. People are appreciating and showering a lot of love on Barbie ever since this news was announced.

The Barbie with prosthetic limb has been designed in collaboration with Jordan Reeves, a 13-year-old disability activist. Hence, the doll comes with a removable limb which will help the children have a more realistic experience while playing with this doll.
