Diwali is one of the most celebrated and anticipated festivals in India and it is just around the corner. Also called the ‘Festival of Lights,’ Diwali is the time when most people are home with their families, enjoying the festivities and food.

In these festive times, one must, however, spare a thought for those soldiers that are fighting at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus – the healthcare professionals.

In the recent past, we have seen healthcare professionals across the world go beyond their call of duty to help the community. And this Diwali, JK Cements pays a touching tribute to these heroes.

In this poignant advertisement released by JK Cements, a patient is shown leaving the hospital after he has recovered from COVID-19, with his son coming to pick him up. The doctor that helped him recover gives him a warm goodbye and wishes him a very happy Diwali.

After the goodbye, she does a video call with her daughter, who enthusiastically asks her mother, the doctor, whether she will be home for Diwali. When the mother tries to explain to her daughter that she would not be able to make it, her daughter throws a fit and complains to her mother that all her friends will be celebrating the festival with their mothers, leaving the doctor distraught. The patient, while getting discharged, watches this emotional scene.

On the day of Diwali, the doctor, torn between her responsibilities as a mother and a doctor, sheds silent tears in the hospital while clutching the photograph of her daughter close to her heart. When she hears the noise of crackers, she walks out of her hospital cabin, only to be met with resplendent lights and fireworks in the lawn of the hospital. She sees the same patient whom she had earlier sent off in the lawn, and when she asks him why he did not go home, the man replies by saying that he spent so many painful moments in the hospital and now was the time to spend the happy and festive times of Diwali with the same people who helped him recover.

The patient also arranges for the doctor’s daughter give an emotional video message to her mother. In the message, the little girl tells her mother that she should not worry about not being home and must do her duty. She ends the message by telling her mother that she is the best, leaving the doctor with tears of joy in her eyes.

Isn’t this a wonderful tribute to the super warriors for their selfless service to humanity? This ad certainly brought tears to our eyes.
