UK MP’s cat interrupts Zoom meeting, brings much laughter

Ever since most of us have been working from home, we have seen quite a few hilarious incidents happening in the middle of work hours! Kids interrupting interviews and spouses accidentally walking into important meetings are now the new regular.

Another such amusing incident occurred recently with John Nicolson, the MP for Ochil and South Perthshire, when he was attending a Commons select committee’s virtual Zoom meeting.

Nicolson was attending the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee meeting and asking the TV bosses why subtitles were not being put on kids’ TV by default because they are known to increase literacy when a bushy, striped tail appeared on screen. His pet cat Rojo had just walked past the camera, showing off its striped tail to the audience and the others in the meeting!

‘I apologise for my cat’s tail,’ Nicolson said, provoking laughter from those present in the meeting, before trying to maintain his composure and launching back into his discussion.

The politician continued to speak as the tail interrupted him but the stubborn Rojo refused to move away, enjoying the spotlight.

‘Rojo, put your tail down,’ he had to strictly say to the cat.

The video has, for obvious reasons, gone viral with netizens enjoying this intervention by the unexpected guest.
