World’s largest snow and ice festival kicks off!

One of the most anticipated ice and snow festivals in the world, the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival opened on 5th January 2020 with a dazzling and scintillating display of fireworks.

Set in the Heilongjiang Province in the northern part of China, this is the biggest ice and snow festival in the world. This annual festival kicks off on 5th January each year and lasts until 25th February.

For this year, an approximate 220,000 cubic meters of ice blocks have been used to make the sculptures.

Visitors will be treated to a host of spectacles, which include a magnificent frozen palace and an ice stream train. Apart from these, there are multiple activities such as ice hockey, ice football, sledging, Alpine skiing, and speed skating competitions. Would you believe that there are some swimming competitions held in the frozen water!

One of the highlights of this year’s festival was a snow-themed group wedding ceremony in which about 40 couples got married. Isn’t that amazing?

While the entrance fee to the festival is around $48, there are quite a few free activities too!
