If you have been to a circus before, you know how magical an experience it is. The animals performing various tricks and antics for the audience are a sight to behold.
However, we do know that these animals kept in captivity have been subjected to cruelty many times. Circuses have been repeatedly accused of starving, abusing, and keeping animals in unhealthy conditions. Further, they have also been charged with making animals perform for the audience under very stringent and tight schedules. Isn’t that heartbreaking?
But, what if I told you that you could watch the same magical experience without any real animals! Confused? Read on.
Circus Roncalli, a German circus, has now become the first ever in the world to not use animals for performances. To protest against animal abuse, the circus has shunned the use of real animals and rather uses holograms of animals. So, there still are monkeys, horses, and elephants but they are all 3D holographic images.
The 105 feet, 16 feet deep arena is filled by holograms that are produced by 11 different projectors. The agency TAG/TRAUM in collaboration with Bluebox, in partnership with Optoma, created this memorable experience.
Remarkably, the circus had begun the process of phasing out the use of real animals way back in the nineties. According to various sources, it has invested more than 400,000 pounds on the technology to create these holograms.
Circus Roncalli was founded in 1976 by Bernhard Paul and Andre Heller.
