What major sporting events are being held in 2020?

2020 will be a delightful year for all you sports buffs.

And it cannot get bigger than the God of all sports events – the Olympics being held in mid-2020.

Here is a compilation of the most popular sporting events to be held next year!

Australian Open – Tennis – 20 January to 2 February 2020 – Australia

Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic will defend their singles titles at the Australian Open to be held in Melbourne early in 2020.

ICC World T20 Women – Cricket – 21 February to 8 March 2020 – Australia

The seventh edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in Australia. A total of 10 teams will participate in this event. The host nation is also the defending champion.

French Open – Tennis – 24 May to 7 June 2020 – France

GOAT Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty will defend their titles at the 2020 French Open to be held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

Euro 2020 – Football – 12 June to 12 July – Europe

The UEFA European Football Championship, conducted once in four years, is to held across Europe in mid-2020, with the final to be held in Wembley in London. A total of 24 teams will participate in the much-awaited contest, with Portugal defending its title.

Wimbledon – Tennis – 29 June to 6 July – England

The oldest of the tennis Grand Slam tournaments, the Wimbledon will be held in London towards the end of June. Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep will defend their titles in this edition.

Olympics – Multi-sports – 25 August to 6 September – Tokyo, Japan

The biggest sporting event of them all, the Olympics will be held in Tokyo in August and September 2020. Over 200 nations and over 10,000 athletes from across the world are expected to participate in this sporting spectacle.

ICC World T20 Men – Cricket – 18 October to 15 November – Australia

The seventh edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held in Australia, six months after the women’s championship. A total of 16 teams are due to participate in the event, which was last held in 2016. West Indies will defend its title in this edition of the world cup.
