Captain of the Indian national cricket team, Virat Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach 12,000 one-day international (ODI) runs, achieving the incredible feat during the third and final match against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Kohli took a mere 242 innings to reach the landmark when he scored a single during the match.

In the process, he also broke the long-standing record held by Indian cricketing genius Sachin Tendulkar, who reached this milestone in 300 innings.

The 32-year-old Kohli is one of the most prolific batsmen of today, with an average of nearly 60 in the ODI format with 43 centuries and 59 half-centuries to his credit.

Interestingly, Kohli also holds the record for the fastest cricketer to reach 10,000 and 11,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Will this cricketer become one of the greatest of all time? Only time will tell.
