The captain of the Indian national cricket team, Virat Kohli is already a cricket legend. He is widely considered the best batsman in the world today. And, he has added another feather to his cap now by becoming the fastest ever batsman to reach 20,000 international runs.

He reached this milestone when India played West Indies on 27th June in Manchester in the ICC World Cup. The icing on the cake was that India won the match convincingly by 125 runs, eliminating West Indies from the tournament and almost cementing its place in the semi-finals.

Remarkably, Kohli took a mere 416 innings to achieve this feat. The record for the fastest 20k international runs was previously jointly held by batting legends Sachin Tendulkar from India and Brian Lara from the West Indies, who took 453 innings.

Mt. 20k scaled! @imVkohli becomes the quickest batsman to make 20,000 international runs. He is the third Indian after @sachin_rt and Rahul Dravid to achieve this feat.๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ #TeamIndia #CWC19 #KingKohli pic.twitter.com/s8mn9sgaap

In achieving this landmark, Kohli became the 12th batsman overall and the third Indian ever to cross 20k international runs. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid from India have previously achieved this remarkable feat.

Kohli has been in a phenomenal form throughout the World Cup tournament that is currently underway. Thanks to his massive contributions with the bat, India is currently the only team that has remained unbeaten in the tournament.

But, the list of records that Kohli has held does not end here. He also holds the record for being the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 international runs. He has consistently been winning many international and national sporting awards for his performances. In 2018, he was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour in India. Earlier in January 2019, he also became the first player ever to win all the three major awards at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards in the same year. He won the Sir Gary Sobers Trophy for the ICC best cricketer of the year, the test player of the year, and the ICC menโ€™s ODI player of the year for the year 2018.
