What were you doing when you were 15? Studying for exams? Or maybe just playing videogames? Or maybe just whiling away time?

Here is a 15-year-old whose achievements and talent are going to shock you!

American teenager Cori Gauff, at 15 years and 122 days, became the youngest ever to qualify for the Wimbledon main draw in the Open Era. She achieved this marvellous feat when she defeated Greet Minnen from Belgium in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

Remember the name.

After she won the draw, she credited her coach, Jean-Christophe Faurel for some diligent pre-grass work that helped her prepare for the match.

“I knew I was the underdog and I was just enjoying it,” she said after her third straight set victory at Roehampton. “I had no expectations really.”

She became the first 15-year-old to qualify for the main draw since Laura Robson from Britain in 2009.

Widely touted as the next Serena Williams, Gauff considers Serena her inspiration and is currently ranked 301. Gauff hails from Florida and it is worth mentioning that she took a science test for her school the night before this inspirational win.

While she is now on the senior circuit, the prodigious Gauff has been making waves in the junior tennis circuit for long. One of her major achievements is that she won the 2018 French Open girls’ singles title. She has also played at the Wimbledon court last year as a junior. In 2017, at the age of 13, she was also the youngest player to appear in a US Open junior final.

Wishing this teenager a very successful career ahead!
