To raise donations towards relief efforts for the coronavirus, American rapper and singer Post Malone recently held a virtual concert from his home as a tribute to the rock band Nirvana.
Often known for his face tattoos, Post Malone streamed the concert on YouTube from his home in Salt Lake City.
In the process, he raised over a massive $500, 000 for relief efforts towards the coronavirus pandemic for the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO). Google.org pledged to match donations at a 2:1 ratio up to $5 million.
“I’m here to play some songs for you and…try our best to stay at home and still make some rock and roll and party hard,” he said at the beginning of the concert.
He also apologized, while laughing, to viewers if they found his home too cluttered.
Along with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, bassist Brian Lee, and guitarist Nick Mack, Malone played 15 songs from the iconic rock band, which included classics as “Come As You Are,” “Drain You,” “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle,” “About a Girl,” and “Heart-Shaped Box.” All the band members maintained social distancing.

Between performing the songs, he also thanked viewers for contributing towards the relief efforts.
The money raised from the concert will help “ensure patients get the care they need, frontline workers get essential supplies, and accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments,” Post Malone said on the YouTube video.
The concert was widely praised by Courtney Love, the wife of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain. She congratulated Malone for raising funds to combat the pandemic.
“Goosebumps … Go have a margarita Post Malone. Nothing but love from here,” Love said on Instagram after the livestream.
