The most anticipated night of the music world was here!
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards were presented at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, 26th January 2020.
Lizzo was leading the pack for the most nominations, with a total of 8. She was closely followed by Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X with six nominations each.
It was the teenage sensation Billie Eilish, though, that was the star of the night, winning all the top awards: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. In the process, she created history by becoming the youngest solo performer ever to win the Album of the Year. The record was earlier held by Taylor Swift, who was 20 when she won the award for ‘Fearless.’
Eilish also became the first woman ever and only the second person to win record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist in the same year. The first artist to do so was Christopher Cross, decades back, in 1981.
Lizzo and Lil Nas X won three and two awards respectively.
Performance from artists such as Alicia Keys, Usher, Aerosmith, and Lizzo rocked the stage and many others paid their tributes to basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter crash a few hours before the ceremony began.
