Do you love being to yourself? And do you love watching movies? If your answer is yes to both the questions, keep reading ahead!

The Goteburg Film Festival is providing a unique but amazing opportunity to all you movie buffs out there.

In the era of the coronavirus pandemic and with social distancing becoming a norm, this festival has announced a contest called ‘The Isolated Cinema.’ As part of this contest, one winner will get to spend seven days on a beautiful but isolated lighthouse island, with only movies and the placid North Sea for company!

The chosen winner of the contest will be transported by boat to the scenic Swedish island of Pater Noster. And will spend a week from January 30 to February 6 in isolation at the island with access to the entire film programme at the Goteburg Film Festival 2021. However, no personal laptops, mobile phones, books, or other distractions are allowed.

Artistic director Jonas Holmberg told CNN Travel that the inspiration for this contest was to understand how people have turned to films for comfort during the pandemic.

“We are interested in how the audience’s relationship to films changes under those circumstances, and wanted to explore this relationship by taking it to the extreme — isolating one person on a small rock in the sea for one week with films as the only company,” said Holmberg.

And how do you enter the contest?

All you have to do is fill in an application detailing who you are and why you want the opportunity to experience the Göteborg Film Festival through The Isolated Cinema Pater Noster. The filled in application is to be emailed to paternoster@goteborgfilmfestival.se by no later 17th January. However, the registrations have already begun from 4th January.

At the island, you are expected to make a video diary each day during your isolation. You are also expected to be available to participate in interviews about your stay before and after The Isolated Cinema Pater Noster.

You will have your own room, a bed, and all the food ingredients that you would require for your stay at the island. Really, you do not have to spend a single penny off your pocket!

Isn’t this just an awesome idea? Will you apply to this contest? We have sent our applications already!!
