The 78th Golden Globe Awards were held on 28th February 2021, becoming the first bi-coastal ceremony ever, with Tina Fey co-hosting the ceremony from the Rainbow Room in New York City, and Amy Poehler co-hosting from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Chloé Zhao created history by being named the best director, becoming only the second female winner of the category in Globes history, after Barbara Streisand in 1983.

Netflix won a total of 10 awards overall, including six in television. This is a huge success after it received only one last year. However, the other OTT platforms were well represented too, with Hulu and Amazon each claiming three Globes, and Disney+ winning 2.

The historical drama ‘The Crown’ won the most awards for the ceremony with four, including Best Television Series – Drama.
