The famous English singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ed Sheeran collaborated with the food processing company, Heinz in a very unique manner to raise money for charity.

Sheeran is a self-proclaimed fan of the Heinz Ketchup, so much so that he has a tattoo of Heinz on his left bicep. And on its 150th birthday, the company has released 150 bottles of ‘Ed Sheeran X Heinz Tomato Ketchup, the Tattoo Edition’ that feature the tattoos of the singer, which include a rose, a jigsaw puzzle, and, of course, the Heinz logo. Each of these bottles has been autographed by the singer.

And the first three of this limited edition bottles were auctioned for 1,050 pounds, 1,100 pounds, and 1,500 pounds at the famous auction house Christie’s recently. All the proceeds of this auction will go to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, a charity that has been nominated by Sheeran and Rise Against Hunger, a charity supported by Heinz.

An Ed Sheeran X Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Tattoo Edition sold at Christie’s Auction House, London last night setting what is believed to be a world record price for a bottle of ketchup… $1816. Together with @teddysphotos we raised money for our chosen charities, @eachhospices and @riseagainsthunger. Perfect.

According to a statement on Sheeran’s Instagram page, 104 of the bottles will be given away as prizes in a free global draw while the others would be given away to Sheeran and Heinz superfans and museums.

But, this is not the first collaborative effort between the singer and the food company. Earlier in the year, they came together to release ‘Tomato Edchup,’ Sheeran’s own brand of the famous ketchup.

Isn’t this an innovative and interesting way of collaborating to raise money for philanthropy? What do you think?
